My name is Laverne Spence. I was educated in the Philadelphia school system. I am one of eleven siblings, and the third to the eldest. My father was a professional dancer. Tap dancing was one of the styles he enjoyed most. His dancing ability is what inspired my dancing career in the entertainment industry. My siblings and I organized a dance group and performed locally. I was eleven years old when I started dancing. Over time we began to perform in different states and in numerous venues. I later decided to begin a solo career as a choreographer. This put me in a position to choreograph for some well-known entertainers, and I began traveling nationally. I worked in this capacity for several years, until concluding that I needed a change. I decided to end my dance career to embark on new endeavors.
With a history of having a talented family, I began putting together skits. These skits led me into a path of writing and directing plays. One particular play comes to mind. The play is called “Lord Why Did You Have to Spank Me So Hard? “ I was very passionate about that play because it deals with the epidemic of HIV and AIDS which plagues our nation still today. After receiving successful reviews, I decided to write another play which is still undergoing. In addition, I am in collaboration with a wellness doctor to co-author a book on health issues for women fifty and over. The book is forthcoming in the near future.
I am a Native Philadelphian, although I have lived throughout the state of Florida in cities like Miami, and Fort Lauderdale. Also I lived in Denmark and Stockholm Sweden in Europe but Philadelphia has always been my roots. When I returned to Philadelphia, I began purchasing property. I saw that Philadelphia had the potential to become the new suburbs.
This vision allowed me to grow and branch into another area of life as a developer. After working with several contractors, they began noticing my ability and helped me to develop my skills in building. This enabled me to rehabilitate my properties, now I’m considered an entrepreneur in the community. After losing both parents, I was put into a position of becoming a care giver for a family member who is elderly with limited mobility and wheelchair bound. This level of care giving was in a capacity that became very challenging. As an outlet, I stepped into the social scene. After communicating with several women from all walks of life, I noticed that these women were alone with not enough men to talk to or dance with. The ratio of women to men was an average of ten to one. These numbers left me astonished. This brings me to the present. I decided to put a service in place that would accommodate their needs.
Well, here I go again into another stage of life, but I have to say that "I am just loving it" in the process. Ironically my newest project is called “Just Lov ’in It”. This service was created for women that were having problems getting men to navigate the evening with them out because they were not in relationships. My service creates options! It is the newest, futuristic, safe, and non-committal way to enjoy a night out on the town. It is neither a dating service nor an escort service. It is an accompanying service! One of my favorite sayings is “I’m not flipping the script I’m scripting the flip”
